Great production doesn't exist in a vacuum. Every record, every arrangement, every sonic decision made in the studio is informed by a lifetime of listening — and that listening never stops. As a producer and songwriter, the most valuable thing I can do outside of the studio is stay curious: across genres, across eras, across every discipline the music industry has to offer. The artists who move culture, the producers who redefine sound, the songwriters who craft the language of emotion, the engineers who shape how a record breathes — all of it feeds the work.
This page is a direct window into that process. Each week I highlight one record that's been in heavy rotation — something that's caught my ear, challenged my perspective, or simply reminded me why this craft matters. No genre boundaries. No era limits. Just music worth talking about.
I first heard this one during a Verzuz battle, and it stopped me in my tracks. The Beat Bully built something deceptively simple, but that simplicity is exactly what makes it work. The beat has a unique texture that feels tailor-made for Ross and Montana's energy, and then Drake steps in and elevates the whole thing. Any time Ross and Drake connect the chemistry is undeniable, and this record is a perfect example of that. Sometimes restraint in production is the biggest flex.
